Long-Term care planning

Caring for a loved one shouldn't cost a lifetime of savings

Nursing homes in northwest Pennsylvania can cost $80,000 a year or more. When faced with long-term care for themselves or a spouse, seniors can watch their life savings disappear before their eyes.

What many people do not know is that there are legal steps they can take to protect a substantial portion, and sometimes even all, of their assets from the cost of long-term care, even if their loved one is already in a nursing home.

At Scales Law Offices, LLC, we use a thorough understanding of the law as it applies to seniors to help them protect their life savings from the cost of long-term care.

Our Asset Protection Package includes:

  • Development of an Asset Protection Plan, designed to protect the maximum amount of our clients' assets, as allowed by law, from the cost of long-term care.
  • A close partnership with our clients for as long as it takes to ensure that the Asset Protection Plan is successfully carried out.
  • Preparation of any legal documents such as Wills, powers of attorney, deeds, or trusts, necessary to carry out the Plan.
  • Where appropriate, preparing and filing the Medicaid application, including all required documentation, and acting as our client's advocate with the Medicaid office.

More information about planning for long-term care is available on our RESOURCES page.
